Training Excavation – Somerset

Absolute Archaeology are conducting the first season of excavations at a recently identified Romano-British site in Butleigh, Somerset (near Glastonbury). Aimed at those wanting to receive professional tuition from experienced archaeologists, Absolute Archaeology will be running a 10 day training excavation (split into two, five day courses) teaching skills including archaeological plan and section drawing, excavation techniques, basic surveying (levelling and laying out trenches) and finds processing.

Places are open to applicants aged 16 and over. No previous experience is necessary, but applicants must be able to make their own way to site where parking space will be provided.

Cost: £150/week (5 days) including tuition or £270 to book a place for the full 10 days.
Dates: Week One 10th -14th August 2009
Week Two 17th-21st August 2009
Non residential

A deposit of £50 is required to secure your place. This will be non refundable except in the case of cancellation by the organisers.
