6th Annual Teaching and Learning in Archaeology Conference

The Subject Centre for History, Classics and Archaeology will be holding its 6th annual conference on Teaching and Learning in Archaeology on the 1st and 2nd July, 2009 at Birkbeck, University of London.

There will be four general themes for this conference, as well as a workshop session.

Working with Employers: developing a productive relationship
.               The challenge of new cultural heritage legislation for archaeological education
.               Case studies of CPD provision in institutions
.               Case studies of archaeological employers working with archaeological educators
.               The employment histories of archaeology graduates
The Future for Continuing Education and Archaeology
.               Current challenges facing continuing education provision in archaeology
.               The future role for continuing education
.               New developments in teaching and learning in continuing education
The Teaching of Theory in Archaeology
.               Case studies of new approaches to the teaching of theoretical issues and concepts
.               Case studies of new approaches to the reflection on and assessment of theoretical concepts
.               The student experience of learning theoretical concepts
.               Sustainability as a key theoretical concept for archaeological education
New Developments in e-Learning and Archaeology
.               Case studies related to the use of new technologies in teaching archaeology
.               Case studies related to the use of new technologies in the assessment of archaeology in higher education
.               The development of new web resources for archaeology
.               Critical reflections on the successes of e-Learning in archaeology
In addition we shall also be holding a smaller workshop session on:
External-Examining in Archaeology
.               The experience of new external examiners
.               Supporting the external-examining system for archaeology
