Bamburgh Research Project

March 12, 2009

Long running excavation at Bamburgh Castle, Northumberland, UK.  The BRP excavates inside the former capital of Anglo Saxon Northumbria, Bamburgh Castle.  The BRP runs a summer field school open to all students and volunteers, with no experience necessary and full training provided.  We offer comprehensive practical training in field archaeology techniques, excavation, recording, drawing, photography, finds processing and recognition, environmental sampling and on site processing, surveying, databasing, public relations. The site is run by professional field archaeologists working with students in the trenches. We also offer evening lectures and a healthy social life.  The project also has a media department recording everything on digital video and students are encouraged to participate in this process.
Weekly fees £150 includes transport to site breakfast and packed lunch and BBQ two evenings minimum per wk.  Accommodation is available for an extra £5 per night for tents on a modern fully equipped campsite with full facilities including showers, swimming pool, self catering facilities and cafe.
