Jacksdale Community Excavation – Nottinghamshire

January 16, 2009

2 to 13 February 2009.

There will be an opportunity for amateur archaeologists and local residents to get involved in an exciting community archaeology project at Warf Green, Jacksdale, Nottinghamshire.

This project will involve Archaeological excavation on the site of a former row of houses previously know as Stone Row. Further excavation will take place on the former tramway embankment.

The excavation runs for two weeks, with the potential of running to a third. Work will be undertaken Monday to Friday. In addition to this we are also hoping to arrange a weekend date.

For those who fancy it there will be an opportunity to undertake scrub and overgrowth clearance from the embankment.

This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in local history and archaeology to get involved and have some fun.

The project is part of the Building Better Communities scheme in conjunction with Portland path project and Nottinghamshire County Council.
