Chester’s Roman Amphitheatre weekend events

Saturday 12 & Sunday 13 July: 10:30am – 4:00pm

Help Chester City Councils Archaeology Service celebrate National Archaeology Week at Chester’s Roman amphitheatre which will be brought to life by:

* Roman military displays
* Egyptian dancers
* Talk to Chester City Councils archaeologists about their latest discoveries
* See a display of artefacts from both the Amphitheatre and Grosvenor Park excavations.
* Have your own objects identified by the ‘Portable Antiquities Officer’ (Sunday)
* Work with local potter, Neil Glenndinnig (Saturday)
* Find out about the ancient art of Mosaic making with local artist Russell Kirk (Sunday)
* Try on the Roman Armour (kiddies only, sorry!)
* Attempt to put the Jigsaw-Dig back together!
* Find the finds in the Mini-dig
* Take part in the hands-on activities including the chance to make your own Roman helmet and Emperors laurel wreath
* Watch a demonstration of flint knapping
* Join in the Guided Tours (weather permitting!)
