Easter Excavation Opportunities – West Halton Lincolnshire

February 6, 2008

Easter Excavation Opportunities, West Halton, Lincolnshire
17th- 26th March 2008

A couple of places have become available on the West Halton Archaeological Excavations this Easter.

This project, which has been run by The University of Sheffield since 2003, focuses on the village green where there is a nearly unbroken sequence of occupation from the early Anglo-Saxon period until the 15th century.

In previous seasons we have excavated portions of a very well-preserved 14th-century manor building, as well as an extensive enclosed Saxon settlement complex.

This Easter we will continue the excavation of a late medieval building that was built on top of a flattened Early Bronze Age mound that possibly also saw reuse in the mid-Saxon period.

Accommodation is provided in the local hall as are all meals. As places are very limited preference will be given to people with some digging experience.

The total cost for the ten days is £120, please contact Dr Hugh Willmott on
